The recipient of this award encompasses any player who displays similar qualities and spirit of outstanding lineman Scott Lang.

He is a player who exudes a super attitude about football. A competitor who is willing to do whatever the coaches require with a smile and with passion. A fun-loving, positive athlete who is also involved in other school and community activities. He is a leader. He is a senior whom his peers, coaches, teachers, parents, & family respect and enjoy. He is a varsity player who lives life with gusto and is full of Baron Pride. 

In remembrance of the fallen football player, Steven Scotty Lang, who went to heaven at football practice on November 15, 1999, the recipient of this award will have his name placed permanently on the Scotty Lang Inspirational Award and he will receive a plaque in honor of his selection.
